Pray for US Leaders: Prayer Plays Major Role in Inauguration Day - Video

(CBN News) – Loved your enemies lately? Prayed for those you disagree with? Two Christian groups that often oppose President Obama’s policies are making a very public gesture to say they’re backing him — with prayer.

Rev. Rob Schenck, president of Faith and Action, and Rev. Pat Mahoney, with the Christian Defense Coalition, are both pastors who know many fellow evangelicals are upset with the election results.

“Some of them are heartbroken that the American people chose to elect Barack Obama to a second term,” Rev. Schenck said. “And a lot of Christians are having a very hard time with that. Some are very bitter. Some are in despair.”

But as they unfolded an inaugural banner, they wanted to let Christians know none of that relieves them of their obligation to pray for the president.

Pray For US Freedoms: Obama Signs 23 Executive Orders on Gun Control-VIDEO

(CBN News) – WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama unveiled sweeping proposals to curb gun violence, signing 23 executive orders, Tuesday, that don’t require the approval of Congress.

In the month that has passed since the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary, Obama said 900 people have died from gunshot wounds.

He said Americans, including the children who wrote him letters urging him to do something to prevent more mass shootings, want action.

“We will make it easier to keep guns out of the hands of criminals by strengthening the background check system. We will help schools hire more resource officers if they want them,” he said.

PrayFor US Rights: Obama Warned against Exec. Action on Gun Control-Video

(CBN News) – New York lawmakers voted for tough new gun control laws overnight Tuesday, making it the first state to take such action since the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre last month.

President Obama will announce his plan to tighten gun control laws later this week, after Tuesday’s review of Vice President Joe Biden’s proposals. Obama has vowed to take action with or without congressional approval.

“I’m confident that there are some steps that we can take that don’t require legislation and that are within my authority as president,” Obama said.

The president wants to ban assault weapons and extend background checks for people who purchase firearms at gun shows. To bring that about, Congress must act.

Abortion Signs Ban Threat to Free Speech- What's next?-Video

(CBN News) – One group of pro-life activists in Colorado has been demonstrating against abortion almost every day. They often carry signs with messages like “Protect the unborn” or “Let your baby live.”

But some are much more graphic.

Now the state Supreme Court in Denver is allowing an injunction against such signs to stand, ruling they cause “psychological harm” to children under 12.

Attorney Rebecca Messall vowed to appeal the decision to the U.S. Supreme Court.

“If these pictures cause psychological harm and can be made the subject of an injunction, that opens the door to an end to our First Amendment protection,” Messall said. “It could be argued that a crucifix is too gory for children to view under age 12.”

Pray For US Liberty: Sen. Paul on Gun Control Order: Obama is Not 'King'-Video

(CBN News) – The Obama administration has suggested using an executive order to bypass Congress if it can’t get the gun control measures it wants.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told CBN News that members of Congress are prepared to fight such an order.

“I’m against having a king,” Paul said. “I think having a monarch is what we fought the American Revolution over and someone who wants to bypass the Constitution, bypass Congress — that’s someone who wants to act like a king or a monarch.”

“I’ve been opposed to executive orders, even with Republican presidents. But one that wants to infringe on the Second Amendment, we will fight tooth and nail,” he continued.
