Libs So Blinded By Hate They Attack Pro-Trump Roseanne For Pro-Muslim Episode

(Conservative Tribune) – Deconstructing anti-Muslim stereotypes should be something that everyone on the left can get behind — but liberal talking points apparently get very muddled when Roseanne Barr enters the picture.

The controversial comedian is known to march to the beat of her own drum, and she’s doing just that with her new show. Barr made waves when the fictional version of herself came out as a Trump supporter in the premiere episode of the “Roseanne” reboot… and now her politics seem to be tripping up progressives.

In a recent episode, Roseanne becomes suspicious of her new Muslim neighbors, and quickly labels them terrorists. But this is a sitcom, after all, and the character realizes by the end of the show that she and the new residents have more in common as middle-class Americans than she realized.

Positive message wrapped in a humorous package, right? Well, not so fast. Likely due to the real-life Roseanne’s support of President Trump, liberal critics have been shockingly reluctant to applaud the “Muslims can be American too” message.

“This is tired,” declared Elham Khatami, an Iranian-American Muslim and journalist. “Roseanne thinking her Muslim neighbors are terrorists isn’t funny. Not even for a second. Muslims deal with that bigotry on a daily basis. And it’s dangerous,” she complained.

Apparently sitcoms can poke fun at misunderstandings between men and women. They can comment on race relations. Parody Italians and Indians and countless white Americans. They can tease Christians and Jews, but can never, ever use stereotypes about Muslims as a source of humor.

Remember, the show wasn’t even teasing Muslims. It was teasing Barr’s character for having outdated views about Muslims.

“If we were really concerned with dispelling Muslim stereotypes, how about give a Muslim family their own show?” Khatami declared. Somebody should probably tell her that only 0.9 percent of Americans follow the Islamic faith, so you could, but it probably wouldn’t bring in the biggest viewership numbers.

For her part, Barr herself took to Twitter to defend the episode.

“I like to do TV episodes about REAL ISSUES & REAL PEOPLE,” she posted.

“That’s what I do,” the comedian continued. “Next season will be even more current events-I will challenge every sacred cow in USA.”

For just a moment, imagine that a confirmed liberal comedian — Sarah Silverman, let’s say — made a humorous episode that poked fun at stereotypes and delivered a message about diverse citizens having something in common as Americans.

Would the left praise it, or pan it? The answer is almost certainly the former. Because Barr doesn’t tow the liberal line and can’t be put into a convenient political box, however, progressives seem to be doing everything they can to undermine her.

It’s amazing that modern liberals have become the new prudes. Like a plump church lady sternly wagging a finger, progressives including Elham Khatami now act like they are the puritanical gatekeepers of what is and isn’t funny.

“No jokes!” they increasingly lecture. “Sit still and do as you’re told.”

Barr doesn’t do what she’s told. She’s irreverent, chaotic, fearless and often hilarious.

In other words, she’s effective, and while we certainly don’t agree with everything she says or does, it’s her effectiveness that drives the left to try everything they can to dismantle her revived success.
