If WePray God HearsDay of Prayer Chair: US Headed for Judgment or Revival

(CBN News) – Christians should seek personal revival before praying for the nation, according to National Day of Prayer Honorary Chairman Greg Laurie.      Laurie says the United States is going downhill fast, and it’s headed for either judgment or revival.

But, he says, God’s word promises in 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If My people who are called by My Name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Laurie preached the message Sunday at his Harvest Christian Church in Southern California.      He will be in Washington, D.C., for the National Day of Prayer on Thursday.

It’s the 62nd year of the event that sets aside the first Thursday in May for Americans to come together to pray for their nation. The 2013 theme is “Pray for America.”

The scripture for this year is Matthew 12:21: “In His Name the nations will put their hope.”

There’s even a special prayer written by Laurie to be read simultaneously throughout the nation at noon (EDT).
